NGSolve gallery
This is a tour through typical applications of NGSolve in mechanical
and electrical engineering. You can browse the geometry file, the
problem description (pde) file, and you can click onto the image to
see a larger picture.
With NGSolve one can solve boundary value problems, initial-boundary value
problems and Eigenvalue problems for the available types of equations,
namely scalar (heat flow), elasticity, and magnetic field.

A static simulation of a crank shaft.
The normal component of the
displacement in the main bearing is fixed, surface load is applied in the
left bearing. The simulation used 150k second order tetrahedral
finite elements (660k unknowns), CPU time on an 1 GHz PIII notebook is 15 min.

Potential described at electrods, absorbing boundary conditions of 2nd order. 720k first order tetrahedral elements (129625 complex unknowns), CPU time on an 1 GHz PIII notebook is 6 min.

Magnetic field simulation.
The field is induced by prescribed
currents in a coil. The problem contains a thin, high permeable shield.
This shield is meshed by thin prism elements. The simulation used
57563 second order, type 2 Nedelec elements (575195 unknowns), and requires
5 min on a 1 GHz PIII notebook.
