The integration of the OpenCascade open source geometry kernel by Open CASCADE S.A. into NETGEN offers access to IGES/STEP geometry files support.

how to install the IGES/STEP module

At present, only the NETGEN version downloaded via CVS access supports the installation of the OpenCascade kernel.

Steps to install IGES and STEP support:

• Obtain NETGEN via CVS checkout
• If you are running GCC on a Linux machine, download our compiled OpenCascade package consisting of OpenCascade header files, libraries and examples (OpenCascadeModule.tar.gz). Unpack it into the NETGEN directory
• Alternatively you can download and compile the whole OpenCascade 5.0 package (www.opencascade.org) and set the OpenCascade paths in the NETGEN main makefile (OCCLIB_DIR and OCCINC_DIR) and in the file libsrc/makefile.inc
• Make sure, the line
  

  occlib = -L$(OCCLIB_DIR) -lTKIGES -lTKBRep -lTKSTEP

  in the NETGEN main makefile is commented in.
• Add -DOCCGEOMETRY to the CPLUSPLUSFLAGS2 variable in the file libsrc/makefile.mach.$MACHINE
• Rebuild NETGEN
• Enjoy it!
